The HKU Master of Family Wealth Management Programme (“FWM”) seeks recent university graduates and young professionals who exhibit a propensity to become well-rounded family wealth managers. We look for students who:

  • Demonstrate ability to succeed academically.
  • Are intellectually curious across a wide range of topics.
  • Have a passion for family wealth management.
  • Have potential to make an impact in his or her future work.

Prior work experience – either in wealth management or otherwise – is not required. The Admissions Committee shall review each candidate’s profile holistically, across his or her academic, extracurricular, and work experiences.

Admissions Criteria

To be eligible for admissions to the Master of Family Wealth Management programme, a candidate must satisfy both the HKU University Admissions Requirements and Programme-Specific Requirements.

  • Applicants shall hold a Bachelor’s degree of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose.

Applicants must complete the online application and submit the following materials:

  • Personal particulars: CV, Academic Certificates, Transcripts, Work Experience Proof
  • 2 Essays
    • Personal statement on the motivation to pursue this programme – i.e. what are your career aspirations and how would this programme help you achieve those aspirations (300 words max)
    • Short essay on what is the meaning of “family” to you (300 words max)
  • 2 letters of recommendation (max 300 words)
    • From individuals well acquainted with candidate in a professional or academic setting
    • Why referee believes candidate will be a good fit for the Master of FWM programme
  • Proof of English language proficiency (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS), for applicants with qualifications from institutions where the language of teaching and/or examination is not English
  • GMAT/GRE scores (optional): Good GMAT/GRE scores will be favorably considered

  • Round 2: 30 April 2024, 12:00 noon (GMT +8)



The FWM Programme office has set aside funding for merit-based scholarship to the programme. Up to 3 scholarships may be granted to the most qualified students to partially cover tuition of the programme. Candidates who would like to be considered for a scholarship shall submit an additional statement in the admissions portal. The additional statement (300 words) shall provide a rationale from the candidate on why he/she is most qualified for the scholarship; content may include but not limited to:

  • Past contribution to society and/or wealth management industry development
  • How your career aspiration may contribute to society and/or wealth management industry development after graduation from the Master of FWM programme
  • Intended use of the scholarship money, if received

Scholarship candidates may be invited to an interview. The number and amount of scholarships are at the full discretion of the Programme Office.
